Zero Waste Homestead was created in 2018 as a passion project to teach and inspire others to green their homes and their gardens. With a focus on organic gardening, pollinators, rewilding, wildlife habitat creation, self-sufficient food gardening, small space gardening, homesteading, DIY and sustainability, the Zero Waste Homestead blog is packed full of tutorials and how-tos that will teach backyard gardeners and beginning homesteaders how to live more sustainably and self-sufficiently in alignment with the natural world.
Aside from the blog, Zero Waste Homestead also teaches gardening and homesteading classes online and in-person throughout the state of Maine!
Who’s Behind Zero Waste Homestead?

Hi my name is Lauren Landers and I’m the writer and creator behind Zero Waste Homestead!
My first garden inspired me with a passion for pollinators and plants that just won’t quit… and so I started ZWH to catalog my homesteading and gardening journey! Aside from my years of hands-on gardening experience, I am an active Master Gardener volunteer and a full-time gardening writer too.
I hope you enjoy the ZWH blog, but if you’d like to read more about gardening, you can also find my writing on various websites, including Better Homes & Gardens, The Spruce, Bob Vila, Reader’s Digest, and the Bangor Daily News.
